The “Sea Cucumber Cure”: A Seafood Solution to Diabetes
Sea cucumbers, cherished as a marine delicacy in Asia, are emerging as a potential ally against diabetes, as per recent research from the University of South Australia. The study reveals that processed dried sea cucumber with salt extracts possesses the ability to inhibit Advanced Glycation End products (AGEs), a compound linked to diabetes risk. The accumulation of AGEs is associated with complications such as heart disease, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, kidney disease, and cancer. Lead researcher Dr. Permal Deo highlights the promising potential of sea cucumbers, with their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, as a functional food in preventing diabetic complications. cucumber contains a combination of valuable amino acids, including glycine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, alanine, and arginine. Research indicates that because of the animal’s amino acid components, it has a remarkable function in immune regulation, collagen production, and connective tissue health
